As I seclude myself in Recluce until 2028, I find that you might be some sort of puppet master???? As I read the news and the merchants, warriors, and “rulers” fight over “golds”, I wonder.
I’m far from a puppet master, but I’ve spent a long time in the political world and/or observing it, and certain patterns do have a tendency to prevail, which is one of the reasons I write about them.
Since I retired 2+ years ago I’ve been quietly lurking in this blog while going through around 10 years of Mr. Modesitt’s previous posts (so far – up to early 2023!). I hadn’t intended to comment until I caught up, but this I just too good of an opportunity…
Over the previous several years of material I’ve been impressed – almost even horrified – by accurately Mr. Modesitt has been able to forecast today’s events based on what was happening at that time.
Previous blogs and comments indicated how many different news sources he reads on a regular basis. It’s also clear that he spends a fair amount of time thinking about and researching the material he presents every few days. It also seems likely that his wife is not only a source, but probably also a good sounding board for that material. Conversations around the dinner table must be very interesting!
With all of that going on, it absolutely amazes me that Mr. Modesitt even has time to write any of the books we all love, much less at the rate he does! I’ve been very afraid that he would chose to retire, but would definitely understand if he should chose to do so. In the meantime, I’m very much looking forward to the new material, as I have for the last 40+ years. Thank you.
