I’ve finally turned in my next book. Most likely, it’s not one that anyone expected, but it’s one that I’ve wanted to write for a long time. The title is Not Even a Ghost, and it’s the prequel to the three “Ghost” books. It tells the story of how Johan Eschbach, as a former intercepter pilot, sometime Spazi (intelligence) operative, and doctor of enviromental science working in government in the Federal District of the United States of Columbia, ended up “exiled” to the “wilds of New Bruges.” At present, I don’t have a publication date, but it won’t be before sometime in 2027.

And yes, I am working, if slowly, on another novel.

Awesome! Gonna need to go reread. I’ve been thinking about those books — so this is a good excuse.

    Excellent! Awesome! Fantastic! Excited!

I guess the publisher changed their mind after reading the manuscript?

I remember you mentioning you had suggested a a new Ghost book (in a Q&A post back in November 2023–I had to look it up to make sure my memory was correct) and they turned down the idea. I’m excited to read about a younger Johan Eschbach.

    Thank you.

Wonderful! I’d had a secret (and selfish) fear that you’d stopped.

  4. Bruce Trick says:

Outstanding. The Ghost series is one of my favorites and have read it many times.

  5. Alecia Flores says:

Great news, I recently reread the three earlier books, & thoroughly enjoyed them.

Yes!!! Ghosts is one of my favourite series. I can read the others in anticipation, although sadly your publisher doesn’t seem to take account of how fast your readers gobble up your books.

Literally in the middle of rereading these books, and enjoying them a great deal more now that I’m older (and catching many more of the details that you snuck in there than I did when I first read them when I was younger). So this is fantastic news.

Did something change? I vaguely remember you mentioning that any further Ghosts books were simply not in the cards.

    1. Something did change. We’ll leave it at that.

  8. I am happy every time a new book comes out! I have loved everything I have been able to get my hands on and I love your writing. Many of your character, think like I think and do what I would do, if I were them.

After my wife passed away, it was the internal thoughts of your characters that finally brought laughter back to me again. I was reading one day and realized I was literally laughing out loud.

I have read about half of your books a second time and some I have read four or five times and continue to re-read. I love your world building, the deep character building and the philosophy and the humor.

When I read one of your books, I only start it when I have time to read it in one sitting because I cannot put any of them down unfinished.

Thank you for being a writer for whom excellence is the only standard.

May I suggest that you ask art colleges to help with drawing of one your books. Then you can have AI read the books and have the art show up every 30 seconds and upload to Utube?

I have read almost everything you have written and I know these would be a huge hit!

LE thank you for taking the time to write so many good
    Novels, and
I will reread them for years to come, your friend
    Carlton Peek…
