March Question

How long will you continue to write books in the Recluce Saga?  Will you ever write a book about the arrival of colonists from the Rational Stars?

Obviously, with two Recluce books forthcoming, I haven’t yet decided against writing more Recluce books.  I have at least one more in mind, but that’s a longer term project, for reasons I won’t get into yet.  The rest of the answer is simply that so long as I can come up with good stories and so long as readers buy them and Tor is willing to publish them I’ll likely write Recluce books, but there are likely to be intervals between them because I’ll also be writing other books.

You actually did not answer the question. 🙂 I would like to see more background about the Rationals and the UFF. It would be especially interesting to see how their technologies differ.

    1. I don’t plan any science fiction about the Rationals, but there is something in the works that will shed more light on the founding of Cyad.

That’s wonderful to hear! Magi’i and Scion were my first introductions to Recluce, and I’ve been hoping to see more of he founding of Cyad for more than a decade.

Awesome, thank you for the reply. I like your worlds they are believable and make sense. They do not have the silly political agendas that seem so popular with other authors. We need more like you!

Thank for the years of wonderful reading you have written. I would just like to voice my opinion that any writings on the UFF and Recluse colonisation would be fantastic!
As long as you keep writing about Recluse, I will continue to read them.

I love the books and echo the other commenters. I would love to read about the UFF, the differences and origins of the angels and the rationalists and founding of Cyad. I would also love to read about Kiedral and the first settlers on Candar.

A fascinating world with incredible details of economics, human struggles to survive and making tough choices. Thank you for such high quality fiction!

It would be really great to read something on RATs arrival upon Candar. I have just finished The Chaos Balance and thoughts about the beginning of this world really bothers me. I will surely go for two Scions books but that’s a bit to far after the arrival.

Nevertheless Candar, have you thought of writing a book on how the conflict went with UFF and Rats before they’ve been draged down (by Naclos?) to the other Earth? Or about life on Sybra? You’ve created really an amazing universe and I hope you could deliver some stories about it too 🙂

    1. There are more stories to come, but not about Sybra, in all probability.

      1. Toperz says:

Can’t wait to get my hands on it! To be honest I thought you might be willing to draw Sybra in your stories one day. But who knows what the future brings, right?

Getting back to what you have said in the main question “I have at least one more in mind, but that’s a longer term project, for reasons I won’t get into yet.” Is it about the Recluce Tales? Or is there another plot in your mind?

2017Q1 feels like forever. I know that publishers have their schedules and business plans, but that’s just too long.

        1. It’s another plot. Don’t forget that Tor has now moved the next Imager Portfolio novel — Treachery’s Tools — up to an October 11th release date.
