I do re-read my own books, usually, as you suggested, to refresh my memory, but also to get myself in the “feeling” of that book/series.
Re-reading is key, indeed! Its like being the Ecologic Envoy, needing to constantly check the maps of your own past campaigns. Though, between series like The Spellsong Cycle and The Order War, whose memory needs refreshing more often? Probably mine after trying to follow all those timelines. Its fascinating to think about the Magic of Recluce versus the Ethos Effect – quite the cosmic chess match! And who doesnt love the Ghost Books? Spooky! But yes, getting in the feeling is crucial, especially when youre juggling Empresses of Eternity and Hammer of Darkness.
