Modesitt, Jr. http://www.lemodesittjr.com/?p=15323 I’d originally announced the new subseries of The Imager Portfolio, which begins with Scholar, as a three book series featuring Quaeryt.  A year ago, I realized that that trying to do what I was doing in three books was impossible.  Several weeka ago, after consultation with my editor and Tor, we agreed that trying to finish the series in four books was also impossible, because the fourth book would have run to close to 400,000 words, and in the current book market, that was not practical.  So… there will be five books about Quaeryt. The first is Scholar.  The second is Princeps, with a release date of May 22, 2012.  The third is Imager’s Battalion, completed and in production, scheduled for release in January 2013.  The fourth is Antiagon Fire, which I turned in a week or so ago, and which is tentatively scheduled for release in late spring/early summer.  The fifth book will indeed be the last about Quaeryt, and will be scheduled after it’s completed, with a tentative and projected release date of late 2013 or early 2014.

In addition to that, I’ll also be having a new short story ["New World Blues"] appear on Tor.Com in late February as part of a special project.
